Enjoy Prague Like We Do

Prague

Praguers used to promenade in Hradčany, Malá Strana, and Staré Město (you can learn more about the tourist spots here). But after a while these beautiful [památky] left us wanting. Times changed, and we discovered that we could create our own social [život] – right on the street where we lived.

Art District 7
We’ve managed to shift the cultural and Bohemian focal point of Prague a bit further up the Vltava to a neighborhood now known by the lofty name Art District 7, really just Letná and Holešovice. There’s no room for boredom here, only for artists, gastronauts, or dog walkers – in other words, trendsetters of all kinds. That’s because here you can find incredible galleries, museums, theatres, [kavárny], restaurants, clubs, creative studios, and alternative cultural spaces. Our favorite ways to get here are by [kolo] or [tramvaj].

When it's nice outside, we are [pečení vaření] in Letenské Sady by Stalin. Here you can ride skates, skateboards, or bikes, lie on a blanket with a picnic basket, or take in a panorama of Prague. The ubiquitous refreshment stands and cultural programs right under the metronome make for a lively scene all [den] ... and [noc].

Bio Oko
This cinema is close to our hearts. This is perhaps because it lies right in the [srdce] of Prague 7. We come here for a drink, watching films from beach chairs, the original pop-up events serve us here. By the way, every film shown here is operated by a projectionist right from a cabin. Take a look at the program, even foreigners can find their place here.
Prague Market

The times when only senior citizens met up here on dates are long behind us, now this is a date for all of us. And because [láska prochází žaludkem], we come here to buy vegetables, [rohlíky], and Vietnamese delicacies. In summer you can get here by ferry from the opposite shore – you should try it too, selfies are permitted. But what good would a date be without culture? The new circus at Jatka78 will make your eyes jump out of their sockets.

Vnitroblock

As long as we’re already in Holešovice, we always stop in the unique alternative space Vnitroblock in a courtyard between apartment buildings. We go here mostly to be seen, which inherently includes checking out the newest hipster excesses and gushing over sour [kafe] and bio-raw-vegan [dortík]. The friends of our friends don’t hold back here on their creativity in the local theatres, galleries, dance studios, or mini-cinemas and we also try to come up with something just as cool.

Sometimes it happens that someone tries to compete in their knowledge during debates about modern [umění]. When that happens, there’s no other choice but to visit the National Gallery in Veletržní Palác. The [krása] and purity of the massive functionalist space always takes our breath away. We leave here completely satisfied with ourselves, because we have encountered Picasso, Renoir, Braque, or Van Gogh, but also contemporary artists of a global level. [Čau].

Square, circle, and cross, that’s DOX. Another unique centre of modern art in this industrial harbor neighborhood we’re proud of. A bit of a [bludiště], but it’s worth it to get lost here, given the wide range of exhibits. When the wooden airship Gulliver elegantly landed here on the roof, it was the price of [byty] with a view that made a rapid takeoff. We're wondering what will land here next.

Art District 7 is not the only Prague location with good vibrations. We can make things nice anywhere, whether with small shops and bistros, block parties, [trhy] or street concerts. Other popular locales include the Vinohrady neighborhood with neighboring Vršovice and the lovely park Grébovka. Riegrovy Sady on the borders of Vinohrady and Žižkov is the right shore counterpart of Letenské Sady – with beer, concerts, summer cinema and a beautiful view of Prague Castle.
